How to write Airbnb titles to increase bookings

One of the best ways to attract visitors to your rental property is with an attention-grabbing title. Airbnb titles should stand out in order to attract the attention of guests, leading them to click on your listing and book your place. A great title will also ensure that your listing is placed high up on search rankings. So what do you include in the title of your listing?

Let’s take a closer look:

How to Create a Catchy Airbnb Title

Firstly, the goal of your Airbnb title should be to steal the attention away from other listings – therefore, it is important that you stand out. Your title is short (only up to 50 characters) but should include the necessary details to show off why your property is unique. You should include the biggest features, benefits, and amenities in your title.

To help create the best Airbnb title for your property, below are some tips that you can follow.

Identify Your Key Audience

There are many types of travelers and each will be looking for their own style of property – for example, a family of 4 with two young children will be looking for a property with space near kids’ parks and amusements, whereas a couple may be looking for a romantic flat located in the middle of the city near nice restaurants and bars. For this reason, it is important to consider your target audience so that you can write your title for them.

Think about the needs of your target audience and what they would like to know about a property before booking. This will help you attract guests that are likely to make a reservation. Use appropriate keywords depending on your audience – for example, backpackers may look for the words ‘affordable’ or ‘basic’, businessmen look for ‘convenient and modern’ while couples may look for ‘romantic’ and ‘intimate’. Embedding these words in your title may mean that you appear on more searches for your target audience.

Pack Your Title With Information

As mentioned, your title can only be a maximum of 50 characters long. This means it’s important to use all these characters to show off what your property has on offer. Do not only use a few words that take up half the character count as this is a wasted opportunity to advertise your property’s features. Quite often, you will find that you have too much information to include – and this is where abbreviations come in handy.

Cut Down On Your Character Count with Abbreviations

As mentioned above, you do not have the luxury of an endless word count when writing your title. This is why many Airbnb listings use common abbreviations to get their message across while cutting down on the character count. Common abbreviations may include:

  • And = &
  • With = w/
  • Bathroom = Bath or BA
  • Bedroom = BR
  • Air conditioning = AC
  • Private = Pvt

For example, you can see in the listing below that the host describes their apartment as being 3BD instead of 3 bedroom with AC instead of air conditioning to cut down on characters so that they can add some additional information.

Use Unique Language

As there are so many listings on Airbnb, it is difficult to stand out from the crowd. To help with this, it is important to avoid generic words that appear on multiple listings. Generic words could describe a number of different types of properties, instead of specifically describing your listing – for example, ‘nice’ or ‘big’.

As an alternative, use words that perfectly sum up the property that you are advertising and its feel. For example, ‘renovated, ‘secluded’ or ‘Insta-worthy’. These are words that will stand out to buyers. However, it’s best to limit it to no more than one to two adjectives. Let’s take the image below – it doesn’t simply use the word ‘unique’ but instead describes exactly what the dome looks like.

Show Off The Best Parts of the Property

Your Airbnb listing should show off the best things about the property – whether this is the features within the home, or why it is in a great location. One of the best ways to identify what to include is to look at your existing reviews from guests to find out what they love about the place. Features to highlight may include a hot tub, balcony, or nearby features such as a lake or mountain. Remember our previous point when writing – think about your target audience and what they are looking for.

The listing below is a perfect example of placing to a property’s strengths – although the title is simple, it includes the phrase ‘architect designed home’ which allows it to stand out from the crowd, as well as a nod to the fact that guests will be able to take part in wild swimming.

Describe the Local Area

Most Airbnb users search by location such as a city, state, or country. When looking for the perfect property, they will have in mind things that they will want to do and see when they are traveling. Try including nearby locations or landmarks or even train or metro stops within your title to help attract buyers looking to stay there.

For example, take a look at the listing below. Those looking to travel to Pisa will have the Leaning Tower at the top of their travel list. This listing is not only unique as it is described as being in a ‘medieval tower’, but it also includes ‘next to Leaning Tower’ in the title to attract tourists looking for convenience.

Another example is this listing in London. London is packed full of tourist attractions, so instead of mentioning just one – the host has described that it is located in the up-and-coming region of Shepard’s Bush.
